Long term health and radiant skin can both be achieved by reducing inflammation in your body. Today, we’re going to go over 12 foods that you can start implementing in your diet to keep your weight in check and your skin glowing.

The foods we eat has a major effect on the amount of inflammation in our body. According to Harvard University, "the foods that cause the most inflammation are sugar, artificial trans fats, vegetable oils, refined carbs, processed meats and excessive alcohol.

These foods are not only terrible for your body but they also lead to stress and low energy. Now, let’s dive into food that can help fight inflammation.

Thankfully, there are lots for us to choose from. Choose the ones you like the most and make sure you add them to your grocery list!

Top 12 Anti-inflammatory foods

1. Berries

Many recent studies have shown berries contain antioxidants protecting against the most common diseases related to oxidative stress, such as cardiovascular diseases, inflammation, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.

2. Fatty Fish

Studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids may play a role in prevention of many diseases, reducing inflammation, and may treat many skin diseases. (National Institute of Health)

3. Broccoli

Contains many minerals including vitamin C which is needed to produce collagen, leading to a good aging prevention.

4. Avocados

Avocado has recently gained dramatic popularity and is often referred to as a “superfood” because of its unique nutritional and anti-oxidative benefits.

5&6. Moringa & Green tea (Matcha)

Both Moringa and Green tea matcha powder are rich in antioxidants, but Moringa takes the cake by containing more Vitamin C than an orange, more Vitamin A than a carrot, and more potassium than a banana. (per 100 mg, National Institute of Health).

7. Peppers

Peppers are not only rich in powerful antioxidants (called carotenoids) but loaded with more Vitamin C then an orange (per 100 mg/USDA)

10. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Olive oil is loaded with antioxidants, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K. Just be careful not to heat the oil beyond its smoking point or it may decrease its benefits. Simply enjoy as a dressing in salad or as a dip with fresh bread and black pepper.

11. Dark Chocolate and Cocoa

The flavonol antioxidants found in Chocolate and Cocoa can protect against sun damage, improve blood flow to the skin and increase skin density and hydration.
